What a Family Session Costsin Los Angeles
A straight answer, the packages behind it, and the things that actually change the price.
A family photography session in Los Angeles with Anastasia Bellone starts at $395. That covers a MINI session of up to 30 minutes with one outfit and 25 professionally edited images, photographed outdoors or in your own home. Longer sessions with more outfits and more edited images are priced above that, and every package includes a pre-session consultation and gallery delivery within 10 days.
What each package includes
- MINI — $395. Session time – up to 30 minutes. Up to 1 outfit. 25 professionally edited images. Location – outdoors or your home.
- STANDARD — $595. Session time – up to 1 hour. Up to 2 outfits. 40 professionally edited images. Location – outdoors or your home.
What actually changes the price
Family photography pricing across Los Angeles varies widely, and the headline number on its own tells you very little. Four things do most of the work:
- Session length — a 30-minute session and a full hour are genuinely different products, not the same session priced differently
- How many edited images you receive — this is where quoted prices most often diverge, and it is the number worth comparing
- How many outfits or locations are included, since each change costs session time
- Editing — every delivered image here is individually edited, which is the bulk of the work and happens after the session ends
When comparing photographers, compare the edited image count and the session length together. A lower headline price with five delivered images is not cheaper than a higher one with forty; it is a different thing entirely. It is also worth asking whether the price you are quoted is the final one, or whether the images are sold separately afterwards.
What you pay and when
A non-refundable retainer secures your session date, and the balance is due on the day of the session. Rescheduling after booking carries a fee, and at least 48 hours notice is requested. The booking terms set out the exact amounts, the payment methods accepted, and the policy in full.
What happens after the session
Within 10 days you receive your edited gallery containing the number of images included in your package, plus a private selection gallery where you can choose five additional images — useful when there is a frame you loved that was not in the original edit. Further images beyond those five are available individually. Clients receive personal use rights and are welcome to print their photographs.
Getting the most from the session
Most family sessions are photographed in the hour before sunset, when the light is soft and low. Choose two or three coordinating colours rather than matching outfits, favour solid mid-tones over busy patterns, and plan any outfit change in advance so it does not eat into session time you have paid for. Wardrobe, location and styling are all covered in the pre-session consultation.
