Maternity sessions with Anastasia Bellone are photographed in Los Angeles, outdoors or at home, and start at $395. A MINI session runs up to 30 minutes and includes 25 edited digital images; a STANDARD session runs up to an hour and includes 40 professionally edited images. Galleries are delivered within 10 days.
When to schedule a maternity session
Most people book their maternity session in the third trimester, when the bump is clearly defined but moving, standing, and posing are still comfortable. Earlier than that and the pregnancy may not read clearly in photographs; much later and long sessions can become tiring. If your pregnancy is high-risk, or you are expecting multiples, it is worth talking about timing sooner rather than later — those sessions are often photographed earlier. Get in touch when you have a date in mind and we can work backwards from it.
What to expect on the day
You will not be left to work out what to do with your hands. Every pose is directed, and the session is paced with breaks built in, because standing under warm light while pregnant is more tiring than people expect. Bring water, and wear loose clothing to the session so there are no elastic marks on your skin when you change. Partners and older children are welcome in maternity sessions and are often photographed in the second half, once everyone has settled.
What to wear
Fitted fabrics that follow the shape of the bump photograph better than loose, draping clothing that hides it. Solid colours in soft tones tend to hold up well, and a simple neutral works in almost any location. Bring a second option if your package allows it — a fitted piece and something flowing give two very different moods from one session. Wardrobe and styling are discussed in the pre-session consultation before the day.
Booking a maternity session
A non-refundable $150 retainer secures your date, with the balance due on the day. Because maternity timing is narrow, it is worth booking as soon as you have a preferred window. Rescheduling carries a $50 fee with 48 hours notice requested. Your edited gallery arrives within 10 days, along with a private selection gallery where you may choose 5 additional images.
